REPORT OF THE

EXECUTIVE MEMBER

EDUCATION

PART II

PROGRESS AGAINST THE OFSTED ACTION PLAN

1. The Ofsted report on Hampshire County Council, dated May 2001, was very favourable, with a limited number of recommendations. The statutory action plan in response to those recommendations was prepared to the required deadline. Progress has been monitored against the Ofsted action plan on a six monthly basis. The first annual review showed that the vast majority of the activities in response to the recommendations by Ofsted had been completed. Moreover where an activity involved the establishment of an ongoing process, systems are in place to ensure its continuation. Almost all the success criteria have been achieved. In the case of those very few activities and success criteria not yet completed or achieved, the Education Department Management Team will continue to monitor progress.

2. On that basis the Executive Member has endorsed the completion of the majority of
the activities and success criteria in the Ofsted action plan and has signed off the
document. Copies have been placed in the Members' Rooms.
