Totton Town Centre Improvements

Improvement proposals for Totton Town Centre have been the subject of extensive consultation over the last two years, culminating in an exhibition and the publication of draft Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) in September 2002. The overall response to the consultation and SPG was very positive, with good support for the proposals generally. It is suggested that further development for the proposals for the Town Centre and preparation of the SPG for adoption by the New Forest District Council are now to be carried out.

1. Atkins are undertaking a preliminary design for the extension of the Holbury to Hythe route strategy from north of Hardley roundabout to Butts Ash Lane and onto the ferry, via Frost Lane.

2. The upgrading of an existing Pelican to a Toucan crossing with shared use facilities, on the A36 Salisbury Road in Totton has been carried out in conjunction with the major maintenance scheme.
