Report of the Convenor of the North Panel

1 Introduction

1.1 Seven new members joined the Panel in December, 2002 following initial training which is reflected in an increase in the number of visits undertaken.

3 Summary

3.1 Thanks are due to custody staff, especially those at Basingstoke, who coped with extra visits during initial training of new Independent Custody Visitors. These new Panel members have made a good start in this work, and the training undertaken by Sharon Jackson, Inspector Sharon Petherbridge and Sergeant Julie Rawson was comprehensive and effective.
