1. Summary
1.1 The following decision is sought:
That an Order be made under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 35 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to restrict waiting and amend parking place provision in Milford-on-Sea Village, as specified in Appendix 1 of this report, shown on attached location plan TS3856 and as per detailed drawings R383(g) and (h) which will be displayed at the meeting.
2. Reason
2.1 The existing restrictions were introduced in April 2000. Following further representations, revisions to the areas subject to limited waiting and other changes were advertised. These were the removal of the 2 hour maximum stay from the central highway car park at the western end of the village, minor adjustments/additions to the lengths of 'no waiting at any time' to protect pedestrian crossover points and improve passage along the High Street at its narrowest point, and the provision of an additional disabled bay. The revised proposals have been developed in liaison with the local Member, Councillor Rice, New Forest District Council Members, Milford-on-Sea Parish Council and the Police.
3. Other Options Considered and Rejected
3.1 Three letters were received following the formal advertisement and these are summarised in Appendix 2. Details of the key issues raised in the letters and the reason for rejection are also included in Appendix 2.
3.2 Councillor Rice and other local representatives have been reconsulted under the former agency arrangements by New Forest District Council and have confirmed their support for the proposals to be implemented as advertised and detailed in this report. The Police are also in agreement.
4. Conflicts of Interest Declared by the Decision Maker or a Member or Officer Consulted - None.
5. Dispensation granted by the Standards Committee - Not applicable.
6. Reason(s) for the Matter being dealt with if urgent - Not applicable.
