Financial Assistance to Voluntary Organisations and Other Bodies

1. Summary

1.1. The budget provision for 2003/04 is £520,000. If a sum of £190,000 is earmarked for Community Planning grants and taking into account commitments made in previous years (£56,000), the balance required for the Annual Grants (£7,682) item, and the Bursaries for Talented Young Sportspeople (£10,000), the amount available for allocation at today's meeting is £256,318. To this can be added the outstanding grants of £55,225 (Item 1) which it is proposed be withdrawn and recredited to the budget. In total therefore, the sum available for allocation is £311,543. The grant recommendations in this report total £38,900, leaving £272,643 uncommitted.

1.2. The following decisions are sought:

(a) That the budget position be noted.

(b) That approval be given to grants to voluntary organisations as listed below:-
