HAMPSHIRE CONSTABULARY INDEPENDENT POLICE DOG WELFARE GROUP

1. The Authority has supported the establishment of an Independent Police Dog Welfare Group in line with Association of Chief Police Officers advice.

2. Members agreed that the establishment of such a Scheme would maintain public confidence and secure the welfare of police dogs by ensuring that police dog training methods and the operational use of police dogs is effective, humane, ethical and transparent.

3. The Authority will consider the detailed scheme at its annual meeting in June and will take the opportunity to visit the Dog Section following its July meeting to be held at the Police Training School at Netley, Southampton.
