BALKSBURY JUNIOR SCHOOL - ENLARGEMENT
1. Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 28(1) of the School
Standards and Framework Act 1998, that Hampshire County Council, being the Local Education Authority, intends to make a prescribed alteration to Balksbury Junior School, Floral Way, Andover by enlarging the premises of the school, with effect from September 2003.
2. In order to achieve this intention it is proposed that additional permanent accommodation will be provided at the school during the 2002/03 school year. The school currently has a nominal capacity for 270 pupils in permanent accommodation. In September 2002 there were 286 pupils on the roll of the school. On completion the permanent capacity will be for 360 pupils. In the school year 2003/04, and subsequent school years, admissions to the school will be based on an admission umber of 90.
3. The Local Education Authority is the admission authority for the school. Pupils will be admitted to the school in accordance with the arrangements that are published each year prior to the date on which applications for admission must be made. Transport to the school will be provided for pupils who qualify in accordance with the Local Education Authority's published policy.
4. Any person may object to these proposals. Objections should be in writing and addressed to The Chief Executive (reference "HW"), Hampshire County Council, The Castle, Winchester, Hampshire SO23 8UJ, to arrive no later than two months after the date of publication of this notice. Any objections received, and not subsequently withdrawn in writing, will be submitted to the School Organisation Committee for Hampshire within one month of the closing date for objections.
