MILL CHASE SCHOOL, BORDON
ESTABLISHMENT OF A UNIT FOR PUPILS WITH LEARNING DIFFICULTIES
1. Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 28(1) of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, that Hampshire County Council, being the Local Education Authority, intends to make a prescribed alteration to Mill Chase School, Mill Chase Road, Bordon, by establishing a unit for children with learning difficulties, with effect from 1 April 2006.
2. In order to achieve this intention, it is proposed to establish resourced provision at the school for children with learning difficulties. This unit will cater for a maximum of 10 pupils, who will be in the school's normal age range of 11 - 16, and will open at the start of the Summer Term 2006. This will not affect the number of pupils to be admitted to the school at the age of 11+, which is based on an admission number of 210.
3. Any person may object to these proposals. Objections should be in writing and addressed to The Chief Executive (reference "HW"), Hampshire County Council, The Castle, Winchester, Hampshire SO23 8UJ, to arrive no later than two months after the date of publication of this notice. Any objections received, and not subsequently withdrawn in writing, together with the Local Education Authority's observations on them, will be submitted to the School Organisation Committee for Hampshire within one month after the closing date for objections.
Dated 17 January 2003 Peter C B Robertson

NOTE:
This proposal forms part of the County Council's review of provision for children with special educational needs in the East Hampshire area, and is intended to increase opportunities for inclusion within mainstream education, where this is appropriate to the needs of the individual pupil.
