PLEASE PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION (typewritten):
1. What are the objectives of the proposal?
Amalgamation of Worting Infant and Junior Schools to form a 330 place primary school, on the site of the junior school.
2. Please give details of what consultation has taken place. Copies of:
a. consultation documents, and
b. the views and responses of the persons consulted
should be attached.
Full details are given in the report considered by the Education Policy Review Committee on 21 January 2003, copy enclosed.
3. Please provide a map showing the location of the schools involved and all other community, voluntary and foundation schools within the relevant radius of the school (two miles for primary, three for secondary).

4. Please provide a list of all schools within the relevant radius of the proposed school, stating which of such schools are maintained by a different local education authority, together with the following information in respect of each such school for the current school year, and (except for the information specified in sub-paragraph d) the previous school year:
a. the standard number for each relevant age group
b. the number of year groups
c. the capacity of the school; and
d. the number of pupils at the school
and a forecast of the matters specified in sub-paragraphs b to d for each of the subsequent five school years.

5. Please provide the following information relating to the schools involved, for the current school year and (except for the information specified in sub-paragraph d.) the previous school year:

6. Please provide the following information relating to the accommodation at the existing schools:
a. the location of the accommodation
Old Kempshott Lane / Chiltern Way, Basingstoke
b. whether the school occupies a single or split site
The two schools share a single site, with separate points of access.
c. details of general and specialist accommodation.
The Infant school has 6 classrooms, a "nurture room", library and resources area. The junior school has 7 classrooms, an ICT suite, library and resources area.
7. Please provide the following information relating to the proposed new school:
a. the number of year groups

c. where it is intended that the proposed school should provide nursery education:
i. the number of pupils for whom it is intended that such education is to be provided; and
ii. the capacity of the accommodation to be provided for nursery education
It is intended that there will be "funded nursery education" provided by a third party. Details of the numbers and types of places will depend on demand.
for the school year in which the school will be open and a forecast of those matters for the subsequent four school years.
No changes are anticipated over this period.
8. Please provide the following information relating to the proposed accommodation (including temporary accommodation):
a. the location of the accommodation
The new school will be based in the present premises of Worting Junior School.
b. whether the proposed school is to occupy a single or split site
Single site
c. how accessible the accommodation will be
The school is well located in relation to the area served. Adaptations to the school buildings will take account of access by pupils with mobility and sensory impairment.
d. details of general and specialist accommodation (both teaching and non teaching)
The school will have 11 classrooms, facilities for music/drama and ICT, library, resources area, together with appropriate staff and office accommodation.
e. (where relevant) details of accommodation for nursery education.
This will be discussed with the third party provider in due course.
9. Please provide details of proposals for pupils who are currently at the schools to transfer to other schools together with any appropriate transitional provisions.
Places will be available for all pupils attending the current schools, who are not due to transfer to secondary school, to attend the new school.
10. Please provide a statement indicating how the proposals would contribute to enhancing the diversity and quality of education, and the extent to which parental preference would be met.

11. Please provide a statement as to whether the schools have been inspected under section 10 of the School Inspections Act 1996 during the last three years and if it has the date of the inspection and details of the outcome.
Worting Infant School was last inspected in October 1999. Worting Junior School was inspected in September 2000. Copies of the summaries of the inspection reports are enclosed.
12. Please provide a breakdown of the costs of the establishment of the proposed school, together with details of how it is proposed to fund the proposals.
The estimated capital cost is in the region £1.5 to £1.8 million. This will be funded by the capital receipt from the disposal of the infant school site.
13. Please provide:
a. information as to whether the school will have provision which is recognised by the LEA as reserved for children with special educational needs, and if so, the nature of such provision and the proposed number of pupils for whom such provision is to be made
The school will not have such provision
b. details of the proposed policy of the school relating to the education of pupils with special educational needs.
This will be determined by the governing body, once appointed, with due regard to the statutory code of practice and the 1996 Act.
14. Please provide details of the proposed staffing of, and the balance of specialisms at, the proposed school.
This will be determined by the governing body, once appointed, with due regard to ensuring that the curriculum taught is balanced and broadly based.
15. Please provide details of how the proposed curriculum at the school will meet the requirements of the basic curriculum (as defined in section 352 of the Education Act 1996: this includes religious education as appropriate, the National Curriculum, and, in the case of a secondary school, sex education including the elements specified in the Act.
The Head Teacher will have a primary duty to secure the implementation of the National Curriculum. The LEA, together with the governing body, will exercise their functions to ensure this is the case.
16. Where the establishment of the new school involves development for the purpose of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, please provide a statement as to whether planning permission has been obtained and, if it has not been obtained, details of the reason (if known) why such permission has not been obtained.
Planning permission will be sought once the detailed design for the extensions to the Junior School building have been drawn up. As this is an existing education site, it is not anticipated that there will be any difficulty in obtaining planning permission.
