`Enjoying Hampshire' - a Cultural Strategy for Hampshire

Report of the Director of Recreation and Heritage

Contact: Nicola Horsey ext. 5423

1. Summary

    The following decision is sought:

That the Cultural Strategy is approved and is taken to Cabinet in June for final ratification.

2. Reason

2.1 Over the last 12 months Officers within Recreation and Heritage have been working on a Cultural Strategy for Hampshire. This has involved extensive consultation with colleagues in all County Council Departments, all Hampshire's district and unitary authorities and a wide range of regional and Hampshire based cultural organisations. The outcomes of the consultations have been embedded in the attached strategy.

2.2 The Cultural Strategy sets out a vision for the cultural well-being of Hampshire and describes how it can be achieved. The Strategy needs to be approved so that culture, in its widest context, can be embedded in other strategies, where relevant, as well as providing the context for future service plans
