1 Summary of Decisions

1.1 For the Executive Member, Education:-

That it be a recommendation to the Executive Member, Policy and Resources, that the approval is given to the matters set out at paragraph 1.2 below.

1.2 For the Executive Member, Policy and Resources:-

(1) That support for Hampshire representatives on the UK Youth Parliament, through the provision of a Development Youth Worker, meeting UKYP affiliation fees and organising elections, be confirmed,

(2) That agreement be given to meeting the travel and accommodation expenses reasonably incurred by Hampshire representatives in attending meetings in the exercise of their duties.

(3) That the County Education Officer be authorised to complete a service level agreement in respect of the above.

2 Reason

2.1 To support and enable Hampshire's representatives on the UK Youth Parliament to discharge their responsibilities effectively, and to encourage applications from potential candidates regardless of means.

3 Other options considered and rejected

Supporting Hampshire's representatives in the ways proposed is not obligatory. However, it is felt that this is an effective way of supporting the social development of young people with particular regard to the areas of democracy and citizenship.
