1. Summary
1.1 The following decision is sought:
That approval be given to consult with stakeholders on the attached draft Bus Strategy as amended to take into account the views of the Environment Policy Review Committee at its meeting on 21 July 2003.
2. Reason
2.1 The production of a Bus Strategy is a requirement of the Transport Act 2000 under Section 110. This requires the County Council to set out its approach to improving bus services, and show how this work relates to the County Council's wider transport priorities as demonstrated in the Local Transport Plan.
2.2 The Environment Policy Review Committee will have considered the strategy on 21 July 2003 (copy attached) and Members' comments will be reported orally at the meeting.
3. Other Options Considered and Rejected
3.1 Not to meet the requirements of the Transport Act 2000 nor the County Council's Local Transport Plan.
