PART II

TILE BARN OUTDOOR DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

1. The Tile Barn Outdoor Development Centre is located in Brockenhurst with its use currently being limited to the warmer months on account of the nature of its residential facilities.

2. The Executive Member has accordingly, approved the project appraisal for the construction of a bunk house and replacement reception / office / storage building at the Centre and has also authorised the installation of a sprinkler system. The new accommodation block will house 34 young people and 4 staff in separate male / female units and the new reception / office / storage building will replace a `shipping container' temporary office.

3. The project will enable Tile Barn to more effectively contribute to the County Council policy of enabling access for young people to challenging outdoor activity, this being an element in the outdoor service strategic plan.
