Report of Chief Executive, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Health Authority

Contact: Richard Samuel H&IoWHA

    1. The Committee will recall that Richard Samuel, Assistant Chief Executive of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Health Authority (HIOWHA), will report to each meeting of the committee emerging issues concerned with management and development of NHS services in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to alert the Committee to matters which may result in NHS bodies discussing with local authority overview and scrutiny committees changes and developments which might constitute substantial development and variation in health services within the context of paragraph 4 of the Regulations (The Local Authority (Overview and Scrutiny Committees Health Scrutiny Functions) Regulations 2002).

    2. Richard Samuel will update the Committee on progress in preparing for consultation conclusions from the HealthFit exercise and an indication of the consequent issues and options to be considered in preparing proposals for change in the way NHS services are provided in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Item 7 on this agenda sets out proposed arrangements for this Committee's engagement in that process.

    3. Richard Samuel will update the Committee on progress in preparing for consultation proposals affecting NHS facilities and services presently provided at The Mount, Eastleigh and Shawford Ward, Winchester. The Committee will consider under item 6 a recommendation that Members be appointed to a working group to be an initial point of liaison with the appropriate NHS bodies developing these proposals for consultation.

Recommendations
