1. On 15 May 2003 a Hampshire County Council/Hart District Council officer meeting was held to discuss the progression of the Fleet Town Centre improvements together with the associated car park modifications. It was noted that the Fleet Town Centre Management Group supported the improvements in general.
2. At the Executive Member for Environment meeting held on 24 June 2003 it was agreed to take the Town Centre proposals forward through preliminary and detailed design, including the appropriate consultations to implement the scheme with funding from the Elvethem Heath development Section 106 Agreement.
3. The Officer Inception meeting of 24 June 2003 instructed the appointed Project Manager to undertake the design with the necessary consultations and produce a programme of events, timed to accommodate the developer funding restraint of building the 1,700th house, with project cost estimates.
4. The preliminary design stage is nearing completion. A programme for delivery of the scheme will be available in mid October, with discussions and consultation on the proposals with Hart District Council and the Fleet Town Centre Group starting 6 October 2003.
5. Subject to completion of the statutory procedures, the works are currently programmed for completion in 2006.
