1. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

All Members who believe they have a personal or a personal prejudicial interest in any matter to be considered at the meeting must declare their personal interest and having regard to the circumstances described in paragraphs 9, 10, 11 and 12 of the County Council's Code of Conduct, consider whether to leave the meeting whilst the matter is discussed. 5. THE EQUALITY STANDARD FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT

To consider a report and presentation by the County Personnel and Training Officer on the action required to achieve levels of equality and diversity, as requested by the Cabinet.

6. DEVELOPMENT OF THE SCHOOL WORKFORCE (Report herewith)

To consider a report of the County Education Officer on teacher recruitment and retention; progress towards remodelling the school workforce; the likely impact of

the pay and benefits project; and procedure for recruitment of new Headteachers where school reorganisations are under way.

7. REVENUE BUDGET MONITORING 2003/04 (Report herewith)

To consider the report of the County Treasurer and County Education Officer on the Committee's revenue budget for the current year and on the action being taken to correct variations.

8. MONITORING COMPLAINTS AND COMPLIMENTS 2002/03

To consider the report of the County Education Officer reviewing the number of complaints and compliments arising from Education Services during the last year.

9. COMBATING RACIAL HARASSMENT (Report herewith)

To consider a report of the County Education Officer on the action taken to secure returns on racial incidents from all schools in the County, following concerns expressed by the Committee at their meeting in May.

10. EDUCATION OTHER THAN AT SCHOOL (EOTAS) BEST VALUE REVIEW (Report herewith)

To consider a report of the County Education Officer on the proposal to postpone the Options report for this Best Value Review until March 2004, to enable the implications of the Green Paper "Every Child Matters" and other recently published documents to be taken into account.

11. QUESTIONS TO THE EXECUTIVE MEMBER FOR EDUCATION

County Councillors attending as appointed members of this committee or by virtue of Standing Order 17.5; or with the concurrence of the chairman in connection with their duties as members of the Council or as a local County Councillor, qualify for travelling expenses.

Appointed and co-opted members similarly qualify for payment of travelling expenses.
