1. Summary
1.1 This report provides a progress update on transport schemes within the Capital Programme that have been approved by project appraisal for implementation in the Gosport borough area.
2. Transport Capital Schemes - Progress
Gosport Bus Station £40,000
2.1 Forming part of the 2002/03 capital programme, these infrastructure improvements at the bus station consist of improved lighting, direction signing, weather screens, passenger information display panels, seating, and upgrading of the bus bays to modern standards, including bus boarder kerbing. Works completed March 2003.
Quality Bus Partnership, Bridgemary Bus Stop Improvements
2.2 In the current financial year, £100,000 of developer contributions is planned to be spent on improving bus stops on the principal routes through Bridgemary, which includes Tukes, Gregson, Nobes and Beauchamp Avenues, together with Rowner Lane. County Council officers are working in consultation with Gosport Borough Council officers to identify the priority sites for improving shelters and bus stop poles, providing raised boarding kerbs, and bus stop markings. A bus marketing project is also to be undertaken to promote bus usage. A project appraisal is being presented for approval to the Executive Member for Environment at his decision day on 11 November 2003.
