Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member for Education advises the Executive Member for Policy and Resources that the project appraisal for the construction of a new administrative wing and upgrade to existing science block at the Westgate School at an estimated cost of up to £1,016,000, excluding fees, be approved.

Reason

2.1

To provide a new administrative wing and associated ancillary accommodation, and to upgrade the existing science block.

2.2

This decision supports Aims 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing improved administrative accommodation and an upgrade of existing science facilities.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

The need of the school for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost effective way of meeting that need.
