Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member for Education advises the Executive Member for Policy and Resources that the project appraisal for the construction of Phase 1 works at Perins Community School at an estimated cost of up to £1,551,000 excluding fees, be approved.

Reason

2.1

To provide ancillary accommodation in order to deliver high-quality sports education for pupils, provide health and fitness clinics for the local community and offer sports science facilities for minority sports based both locally and nationally.

2.2

This decision supports Aims 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing enhanced facilities not only for the school, but for minority sports both locally and nationally.

3.1

The need of the school for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost effective way of meeting that need.
