Review of primary and special school provision in the east New Forest area: Calmore

    1. Summary

    1.1 The following decisions are sought:

      (a) That Calmore Infant School and Calmore Junior School remain as separate schools;

      (b) That surplus capacity at:

        Calmore Infant School be used for additional early years provision and for the establishment of resourced provision for language impairment;

        Calmore Junior School be used for accommodation for the School Library Service and for the establishment of resourced provision for language impairment.

      (c) That statutory notices be published in accordance with S28(1) of the School Standards and Framework Act, 1998 to make a prescribed alteration to Calmore Infant School by the establishment of resourced provision for language impairment.

      (d) That the County Council concurs with the proposal of the governing body of Calmore Junior School to publish proposals to make a prescribed alteration to the school by the establishment of resourced provision for language impairment.

    2. Reasons

    2.1 This decision supports Aim 1 of the Corporate Strategy (Maximising life opportunities) by improving the range of educational services available to the local community and making the best use of physical resources.
