Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member for Education advises the Executive Member for Policy and Resources that the project appraisal for the construction of a Youth Building and refurbishment of the Newbold Building at Hamble Community School at an estimated cost of up to £752,000, excluding fees, be approved.

Reason

2.1

To provide a purpose-built Youth Building at Hamble Community Sports College, and to refurbish the Newbold Building to provide CDT and classroom accommodation.

2.2

This decision supports Aims 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing a youth facility which will benefit the school and the local community.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

The need of the school for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost effective way of meeting that need.
