1. Summary

1.1 The following decisions are sought:

That the attached transitional support plan, which was submitted to the DfES on 26 January 2004 be agreed subject to DfES approval and further Schools Forum discussion on 24 February 2004.

That the Executive Member for Education delegates powers to amend the plan in the light of any School Forum discussion or DfES response to the County Education Officer.

1 Reason

1.1 According to the DfES guidance issued on 29 October 2003, `Support for schools in financial difficulty' the County Council has to submit details of which schools will receive targeted grant and notify the DfES by 28 February 2004. Since there is no Executive Member meeting between the School Forum discussion and the DfES deadline Executive Member approval is needed in advance.

1.2 The DfES have indicated that they will not formally approve Hampshire's transitional support plan until they have the Ministerial response to Hampshire's central spending limit increase application. An oral up-date on this will be provided at the meeting.
