Summary

1.1

The following decisions are sought:

(i) That the Annual Review for the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and Arboretum be approved.

(ii) That the Director of Property, Business and Regulatory Services and his staff be thanked for all their efforts which have resulted in the successful completion of the Visitor and Education Pavilion at the Gardens.

(iii) That the strategy outlined in the report which seeks to protect the setting and future operation of the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and Arboretum be approved.

Reason(s)

2.1

To safeguard the setting and future operation of the Gardens.

2.1

This scheme will impact on the delivery of all Corporate Aims, focusing most immediately on:

Aim 1 - maximising life opportunities: the management and protection of the Gardens enriches the recreational and cultural opportunities for people in Hampshire.

Aim 2 - stewardship of the environment: the management and expansion of the Gardens extends the biodiversity of the area.

Aim 3 - achieving economic prosperity: the Visitor and Education Centre and Jermyn's House provide opportunities for conferences and other business functions.

Aim 5 - improving services: implementing the Business Plan and protecting the Gardens from the impact of any adjacent development will enhance the services available to residents of and visitors to Hampshire.
