Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member for Policy and Resources approves the project appraisal for the construction of a classroom extension and the removal of temporary buildings, along with re-cladding of the existing building at Hiltingbury Infant School at an estimated cost of up to £709,000, excluding fees.

Reason

2.1

To provide permanent teaching accommodation to enable temporary buildings to be removed from site and make improvements to the existing school building.

2.2

This decision supports Aims 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by improving the permanent teaching accommodation, with immediate benefit to the school.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

The need of the school for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost effective way of meeting that need.
