THE HAMPSHIRE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME AND BEST VALUE REVIEW PROGRAMME
1. The Hampshire Improvement Programme and the Best Value Review Programme are devices which enable the Council to respond to legislation and audit requirements. On the one hand the Improvement Programme is designed to list those projects and activities which will deliver the Council's priority outcomes. On the other hand the Best Value Review Programme is designed to ensure that the Council takes time out to reflect on and consider options to improve areas that currently cause concern. Monitoring progress with these programmes contributed to the Audit Commission's judgement that the Council has maintained a high level of performance and should maintain its excellent status under Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA).
2. However, for the future it is recognised that separate documents could confuse the messages about what the Council's priorities are and how they are being addressed. To overcome this, both the Hampshire Improvement Programme and the Best Value Review Programme will be integrated into the Corporate Strategy during its annual review so that it can clearly be seen how these programmes of activity are designed to address the Council's corporate aims and objectives.
