REVIEW OF HEALTH OF OUR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS - CHILDREN LOOKED AFTER AND HEALTH OF SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN

1. The Committee was pleased to accept the findings and recommendations of the first two parts of the review of the Health of our Children and Young Persons, which were Children Looked After and Health of School Aged Children.

2. In carrying out the review emphasis has been placed on identifying good practice and opportunities for improvement in the delivery of these services. The different agencies involved in providing services and the separate national policy framework underpinning each topic and area required that each working group adopted a flexible approach to the conduct of the review process.

3. A common theme has been the real enthusiasm and support from those involved in providing these services to local children. This has enabled the working groups to build their understanding of issues facing the services and draw out areas where improvement can be made as well as recognising achievements.

4. Copies of the reports of the working groups are available in the Members' room and can be accessed via hantsweb.

5. The outcomes summarised in the above report support the Corporate Strategy aims 1 and 5.
