Summary |
1.1 |
The following decision is sought: |
That in principle up to 100% or £370,000, whichever is the lower, of the capital receipt from the disposal of 44 Verdi Close, Basingstoke be retained as an increased contribution to the reinvestment scheme to provide a programmed respite care unit in Basingstoke for children with disabilities who have health and social care need, subject to the County Council being convinced the scheme represents value for money for the service being provided.

Reason(s) |
2.1 |
Use of the sale proceeds as set out in the report, will enable the provision of improved respite care services for children with disabilities in partnership with the local NHS Trust. |
2.2 |
This decision supports the following Aims of the Corporate Strategy |
Aim 1 - Maximising life opportunities by providing a local respite service available to children with severe/profound disabilities. This Unit will serve primarily the Basingstoke area, but generally the provision of respite services for children with disabilities offers them increased leisure opportunities and enables families to have a break from caring. The service often enables the disabled child to remain within the family home rather than having to move away to a long-term residential placement.
