Requests for Financial Assistance from Voluntary Organisations and Other Bodies

Report of the Chief Executive

    1. Summary

    1.1. The remaining balance of the budget available for grants to voluntary organisations in 2003/04 is £16,955. Grant applications 4, 9, 13 and 19 have been agreed in principle prior to the end of the financial year and will be charged in 2003/04, subject to approval at today's meeting.

    1.2. The budget provision for 2004/05 is £391,300. Taking into account the allocation for Bursaries for Talented Young People in Sport (£10,500), HMS Minerva (£25,000) and the completion of loan repayment from Martingrove Housing in New Milton, the sum available for allocation at today's meeting is £352,000.

    1.3. The following decisions are sought:

(i) That the budget position be noted.

(ii) That approval be given to grants to voluntary organisations as listed below:-

    1. Financial Position

    1.1 The remaining budget available for grants to voluntary organisations and other
    bodies in 2003/04 is £16,955. Grant applications 4,9,13 and 19 have been
    agreed in principle prior to the end of the financial year and will be charged in
    2003/04, subject to approval at today's meeting.

    1.2 The budget provision for 2004/05 is £391,300. Taking into account the

    1.3 The Schedule of attached items gives details of 19 applications which, if agreed in the amounts recommended, would total £17,000 in 2003/04 and £22,500 in 2004/05.

    1.4 A copy of the guidelines for allocations of grants by the Executive Member for Policy and Resources is attached as an appendix to this report.

    1 Corporate Strategy

    1.1 These grants would support Aim 1 of the Corporate Strategy by maximising life opportunities.

    RECOMMENDATIONS:

    (i) That the budget position be noted.

    (ii) That grants totalling £17,000 in 2003/04 and £22,500 in 2004/05 be made to voluntary organisations and other bodies as specified in the report.
