18 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

There were no declarations of interest.

19 MINUTES

The Minutes of the meeting held on 21 May, 2003 were agreed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

20 CHAIRMAN'S COMMUNICATIONS

The Chairman paid tribute to the late Brian Down who had reported on the Advisory Panel and Management Committee's deliberations for many years.

21 DEPUTATIONS

There were no deputations.

22 COASTAL DEFENCE STRATEGY FOR THE WEST SOLENT

The Chairman acknowledged, with thanks, the presentation given to the Advisory Panel by the Coastal Projects Officer, New Forest District Council, which had provided an insight to the changing patterns of seabed movement around the coast and the legislation and regulation of coastal matters.

23 LYMINGTON KEYHAVEN COASTAL AREA MANAGEMENT REPORT

The Committee considered the report of the Director of Recreation and Heritage (Item 6 in the Minute Book) highlighting work that had taken place on the Lymington-Keyhaven Nature Reserve between May, 2003 and March, 2004 including, proposals to declare Sturt Pond a Local Nature Reserve.

    · Councillor Mrs. Heron was to be invited to visit the marshes when the Lymington-Keyhaven Liaison Panel next organised one.

    · Mr. David Hopkins, the County Archaeologist was to be invited to speak to the next meeting of the Advisory Panel on the results of the archaeological investigations.

    RESOLVED:

    That the report be noted.

24 MANOR FARM (EFFORD) - GRAVEL PIT AND LANDFILL SITE

The Committee considered the report of the Director of Environment (Item 7 in the Minute Book) updating progress with planning application and the Water Management Scheme.

Whilst the scheme had obtained the approval of the County Council, subject to some revision on technical issues and programme of review, it was reported that the Environment Agency were likely to give their approval, provided that the operators were able to achieve the necessary water quality standards, for discharges into the Avon Water.

That the report be noted.
