Major Projects Status report

Summary

The following decisions are sought:

1.1

That approval be given to the schemes being undertaken at various secondary schools under the NDS Modernisation 2004/05 Schools Specialist Accommodation, in particular the scheme at Bridgemary Community School at a value of £341,723, excluding fees.

1.2

That approval be given to the scheme at Sharps Copse Primary School to provide a Children's Centre, subject to the agreement of funding arrangements detailed in the County Education Officer's Capital Programme Update report elsewhere on the agenda.

Reason(s)

2.1

To provide enhanced science laboratory, food technology and textile laboratory accommodation at various secondary schools

2.2

This decision supports Aims 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing improved school facilities which will benefit the school and its users.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

The need of the school for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost-effective way of meeting that need.
