The following decision is sought:

To approve the level of grant allocation for 2004 - 2005 to voluntary organisations, to support the work of the Early Education and Childcare Unit as set out in the Sure Start Strategic Plan for 2004-2006. as follows:

2 Reason

2.1 This decision supports the following aims of the corporate strategy.

Aim 1, maximising life opportunities for young children and their families.

Aim 4, building strong and safe communities by the early preventative work, which takes place with children and young people in early education and out of school childcare settings.

Aim 5, improving services, particularly the development of integrated services for young children and their families.

2.2 This decision supports the work of the Early Education and Childcare Unit, through a variety of commissioned services, all with grant agreements.
