ARTS DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP FUNDING 2004/05
1. The Executive Member has received details of applications received for project partnership funding from groups planning to organise arts projects for Hampshire residents. Publicity sought to attract applications involving the priority art forms namely visual arts, crafts, literature and lens based media. In addition to straightforward grants the County Council also runs the Two for One award scheme which is a very successful initiative that fosters a positive relationship between business and the arts as well as making the grant funding stretch further; the scheme works by matching new sponsorships valued between £200-£500 and provides a useful incentive to arts organisations to find more sponsors and also encourages more local businesses to sponsor the arts in Hampshire.
2. The Executive Member has approved the allocation of some £14,000 in grants to 21 applicants together with £1,300 on three Two for One schemes and £2,500 towards the Eastleigh Summer Musical Festival. The £14,000 was awarded to several organisers of classical concerts, an outdoor sculpture and design-led craft exhibition, a writers' conference and book fair and the Southampton Mela Festival which provides an opportunity for increased understanding and enjoyment of South Asian Arts.
