To consider the report of the County Treasurer summarising and identifying changes made by the Local Government Pension Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 2004 which brought in the first phase of changes on 1 April, 2004. The report also summarises the second phase of more substantial changes to take effect on 1 April, 2005.

To consider the report of the County Treasurer updating the Panel on pensions for councillors.

To consider the report of the County Treasurer updating the Panel on progress in resolving pension claims from part-time workers since the last report considered at its meeting on 26 November, 2003.

To consider the report of the County Treasurer summarising the conclusions of the Penrose Inquiry and updating the Panel on other significant developments at Equitable Life over the past year.

RECOMMENDATION:

That, by virtue of paragraphs 7 and 9 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of items 11 to 16.
