1 APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN

In accordance with Section 6 of the Constitution nominations for the appointment of Chairman of the Committee for the ensuing year are requested.

2 MINUTES (Pages1 to 19)

To confirm the Minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on Thursday 29 April 2004.

3 APPOINTMENT OF VICE-CHAIRMAN

In accordance with Section 6 of the Constitution nominations for the appointment of Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the ensuing year are requested.

4 DEPUTATIONS

To receive any deputations subject to the concurrence of the Committee.

MATTERS FOR DECISION

5 HOLBURY INFANT AND JUNIOR SCHOOLS - CLOSURE AND ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW PRIMARY SCHOOL (Page 20 to 118)

The County Education Officer to be invited to present the Local Education Authority case. The Committee are asked to consider the Prescribed Information to discontinue Holbury Infant and Holbury Junior Schools, with effect from 31 August 2006; and to establish a new community primary school, to cater for 420 boys and girls irrespective of ability, aged 4-11, in the premises of Holbury Junior School, with effect from 1 September 2006. The Committee are also asked to consider the representations received to these proposals following publication of notices.

    6. CALMORE INFANT AND JUNIOR SCHOOLS - ESTABLISHMENT OF UNITS FOR PUPILS WITH SPEECH, LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION NEEDS (Page119 to 168).

      The County Education Officer to be invited to present the linked proposals of the Local Education Authority and Governing Body of Calmore Junior School. The Committee are asked to consider the Prescribed Information for the linked proposals to establish units for children with speech, language and communication needs, with effect from 1 September, 2005.

      NOTE: No representations were received in response to the Public Notices published on 2 April, 2004, however the Committee must still consider the linked proposals as the Junior school is a Foundation School.

      MATTER FOR INFORMATION

    7. LANGDOWN INFANT AND JUNIOR SCHOOLS, HYTHE - PROPOSED AMALGAMATION (Page 169 to 185)

    No objections were received in response to the public notices published and accordingly the Local Education Authority has determined to implement the proposals as set out in the notice.

        RECOMMENDATION:

        That the Committee note the action taken by the Local Education Authority.
