1 Summary

1.1 That Synetrix Ltd be selected as the preferred supplier for the Hampshire and South East Grid for Learning Wide Area Network and Backhaul contracts and IT Services continues to supply the Internet Services Applications (ISP). This to take effect from 1st August 2004.

2 Reason

2.1 This report provides an overview of the selection process to find a supplier to provide, through the SEGfL tender process, the Wide Area network, Internet and backhaul for Hampshire Schools.

2.2 There is an estimated total budget for this project up to the financial year
2005-06 of £13 million. The services required will be purchased through a new contract.

2.3 A decision on which supplier(s) will provide each of the services is required.

2.4 This project fulfils government (DfES) strategy, Corporate Strategy aims 1 and 3 and the Information Communications Technology Hampshire Education Strategy strands 1, 2 and 6, as outlined in paragraph 6.1.

2.5 To note the impact of the new contract on schools.

3 Other options considered and rejected - not applicable.

4 Conflicts of interest declared by the decision-maker or a member or officer consulted - none.

5 Dispensation granted by the Standards Committee - not applicable.

6 Reason for the matter being dealt with if urgent
