1. Summary

1.1 The following decisions are sought:

(i) That the grant allocations as set out below totalling £16,550 be

approved.

(ii) That the balance of £48,730 be retained to fund The Award Project - A Duke of Edinburgh's Award Project in partnership with Wessex Youth Offending Team (YOT) and Hampshire County Youth Service.

2. Reasons

2.1 The Youth Panel at its meeting on 17 June 2004 advised the Executive Member for Education to approve grant allocations totalling £16,550 and to retain the balance of £48,730 to secure funding for The Award Project - A Duke of Edinburgh's Award Project.

2.2 That the Grants support Aim 1 of the Corporate Strategy, Maximising life opportunities and Corporate Strategy Aim 4 , Building Strong and safe communities, as well as contributing to the Cabinet priority for Youth.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected: Not to make these grants. However, it is considered that making these grants constitutes an effective use of resources considering the benefits that they will bring.
