Summary

1.1

The following decisions are sought:

1. That a detailed presentation by the Director of Environment and the Director of Property, Business and Regulatory Services be given to the Buildings, Land and Procurement Panel (BLPP) on sustainable and renewable energy sources, to form the background and context for a decision to be taken on any proposed `pilot' woodfired boiler.

2. That the Director of Property, Business and Regulatory Services prepare detailed plans and costs of the proposed woodfired boiler at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Horndean, for consideration by BLPP in the event that the concept in (1) proceeds.

This decision supports Aims 2 and 3 of the Corporate Strategy as follows:

Aim 2 - Stewardship of the environment - by developing an initiative to promote the use of renewable energy.

Aim 3 - Achieving Economic Prosperity - by providing a market for locally produced wood fuel.
