Applicants for Training

Monitoring results shared internally within departments. Monitoring currently being extended to cover all staff groups.

Within social care, almost 18% of applications for training were not supported on the initial application. Current monitoring does not record how many were successful on subsequent applications.

Current social care data based on the 76% of applicants with SAP record

(now 100%, problems around implementation date in early 2003/4)

Data on specialised staff groups (such as social workers, IT programmers, engineers etc) are currently monitored internally within Departments. SAP-R3 HR system is expected to be capable of collecting global data in the near future.

Staff who benefit, or suffer disadvantage, from performance appraisal

All staff have an annual Performance Development Review (consistent with our holding an Investors in People award). These reviews are to highlight training and performance needs, and are not part of an annual performance appraisal system linked to pay or promotion prospects. This process was assessed this year, in terms of the consistency of its application, as part of the pre IiP assessment review. No evidence was found to suggest any employee group was being disadvantaged in this process.

Annually, we will be categorising our reviews further by highlighting employees by racial group.

Evidence from internal monitoring of people being put through capability procedures does not indicate any adverse results for staff from differing racial backgrounds.
