1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the Bus Priority Policy Document as attached to this report be approved.

2. Reason

2.1 This decision supports Aim 2 of the Corporate Strategy (Stewardship of the Environment) by seeking to develop a policy where buses, taxis and bicycles are provided with priority over other traffic to increase the relative attractiveness of these modes; and Aim 4 (Building Safe and Strong Communities) by improving accessibility for people by bus.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected

3.1 A Bus Priority Policy is required to ensure consistency of application of such facilities throughout the county, and the option of not preparing such a policy has therefore been considered and rejected.
