1. Summary
1.1 The following decision is sought:
That Gosport Borough Council be informed that, with regard to parking charges in off-street car parks controlled by the Borough Council, consent is given in accordance with Section 39(3) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 to introduce a scheme for parking in Borough Council owned car parks.
2. Reason
2.1 Gosport Borough Council is seeking to introduce off-street car parking charges in the current year and requires the approval of the County Council to introduce them.
2.2 This decision supports Aim 3 (Achieving Economic Prosperity) of the Corporate Strategy by enabling the Borough Council better to manage the throughput of vehicles in its car parks, which assists local businesses and the retail sector. It also supports Aim 2 (Stewardship of the Environment) by seeking to reduce reliance on the private car.
