1. Summary

1.1 The following decisions are sought:

      (i) That the progress on the MIRACLES project and the successful outcome of the mid-term review by the European Commission be noted.

      (ii) That the attached Project Appraisal for the installation of a variety of sustainable transport measures in Winchester, associated with the European Union's CIVITAS initiative - MIRACLES Project, at an estimated cost of £100,000, be approved.

2. Reason

2.1 This decision supports Aim 2 (Stewardship of the Environment) and Aim 5 (Improving Services) of the Corporate Strategy by promoting environmental sustainability and improving travel choices.

2.2 To update on the progress of the MIRACLES project and to seek approval to implement various initiatives introduced by the European Union supported MIRACLES project as part of an integrated package of sustainable transport measures.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected

3.1 A key feature of the proposed measures to be introduced by the MIRACLES project is that they have been developed as an integrated package.
