Financial Assistance to Voluntary Organisations and Other Bodies

    1. Summary

    1.1. The remaining balance of the budget available for grants to voluntary organisations in 2004/05 is £207,390 after allocating for the grants approved at the last decision day, commitments made in previous years and sums earmarked for specific purposes.

    1.2. The following decisions are sought:

(i) That the budget position be noted.

(ii) That approval be given to grants to voluntary organisations as listed below:-

(iii) That the remaining allocation of £30,000 for the Winchester Festival (£20,000 for 2005/06 and £10,000 for 2006/07) be released in full in April 2005 subject to the conditions contained in paragraph 2.4 of the report and that this be the final contribution from the County Council's Policy and Resources budget.

    2. Reason(s):

        To promote economic, social or environmental well-being within the community. These grants would support Aims 1 (maximising life opportunities) and 4 (building strong and safe communities) of the Corporate Strategy.

    3. Other options considered and rejected:

    Not to award grants to the above organisations.
