Community Fire Safety Strategic Steering Group

3.1

This forum will replace the old Community Fire Safety (CFS) Task Force and have a much more strategic influence in the target setting and direction of CFS activity.

3.2

The meetings aim was following a presentation on present CFS Local Performance Indicators (LPI's) to:

· agree on the retention of these LPI's

· agree on addition of new LPI's

· agree on targets for each LPI

3.3

The following CFS LPI's have been agreed and targets set:

· The number of Home Fire Safety Checks (HFSC's) carried out. The target has been raised from 780 HFSC's in 2003/04 to a new target of 2000 HFSC's in 2004/05.

· The number of smoke detectors fitted per year has been removed as an LPI, but will remain as an activity monitor.

· The % of Home Fire Safety Check Agency referrals carried out within 28 days. The target has been reduced from 100% to 80% for 2004/05 year, whilst new administration processes are introduced.

· The % of Key Stage One pupils receiving input will remain, with no change to the 90% target set.

· The % of Key Stage Two pupils receiving input will remain, with no change to the 90% target set.

· The % of Key Stage Three pupils receiving input will remain, with no change to the 90% target set.

· A new LPI indicating a reduction in primary arson (factories/homes/cars) will be introduced. The target set is a 10% reduction by 2010 from the 2001 baseline figure.

· A new LPI indicating a reduction in secondary arson (grass/rubbish/woodland) will be introduced. The target set is a 10% reduction by 2010 from the 2001 baseline figure.

· The 10% reduction of arson in schools primary fires will remain with no change to the target.

· The 10% reduction of arson in schools - secondary fires will remain with no change to the target.

· The 10% reduction of arson in vehicles will remain with no change to the target.
