2 As part of its evolutionary approach to the development of scrutiny, the County Council has asked that the Committee expand its existing activity to enable it, independently of the Executive, to focus strategically across all areas of the Council's activity. This will include consideration of the Council's effectiveness in terms of its provision of services and policy development. Findings will be reported directly to the full County Council. The Committee has been renamed the Policy and Resources Scrutiny and Select Committee. At its meeting on 9 September, 2004 the Committee agreed that the first of its two reviews will be broadly based in the areas of:

· Services for children and young people in the care of Hampshire County Council - specific subjects to be identified - followed by

· Crime and disorder
