Future Management of the County Council`s Interests in the

Land at Manydown, Near Basingstoke

Summary

1.1

The following decisions are sought:

That approval be given to:

    (1) The progress made in promoting the land at Manydown for inclusion in the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Local Plan as a Major Development Area be noted and the Manydown Development Framework document be endorsed.

    (2) The change of the Manydown Joint Management Committee to the Manydown Joint Development Committee be approved;

    (3) Expenditure of up to £74,500 in the current financial year in the preparation of submissions to the Public Inquiry into the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Local Plan Review be approved; and

    (4) The minutes of the Manydown Joint Management Committee meeting on the 3 September be approved.

Reason(s)

2.1

To promote proposals for a Major Development Area at Manydown in line with a Joint Development Partnership Agreement with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

2.2

This decision supports the following Aims of the Corporate Strategy

Aim 1 - Maximising life opportunities by providing a high quality sustainable extension to Basingstoke.

Aim 2 - Stewardship of the environment by implementing development with a high quality of design and landscaping making best use of natural resources available.

Aim 3 - Achieving economic prosperity by providing a mixed development with strong employment opportunities.

Aim 4 - Building strong and safe communities through detailed design and co-operation with local residents, community associations and Hampshire Police.

Aim 6 - Developing councillors and staff through close involvement in the planning and design of the proposed Major Development Area.

Not to promote the allocation of the Manydown land for development through the Local Plan Review.
