Funding for Solent Peoples Theatre

1. Summary

1.1 The following Decision was sought:

That the £30,000 of funding be agreed to be paid to Solent Peoples Theatre. This award will be made in two parts; £10,000 immediately and £20,000 in April 2004.

In making this decision it was noted that this funding was coming from the

Policy Fund.

2. Reason

2.1 Solent Peoples Theatre have announced plans for a three year project exploring ways in which theatre can be used to re-enliven local democracy. This is relevant to the ambitions of Hampshire County Council. The proposal addresses the desire within the Corporate Strategy to build strong and safe communities by getting people to engage with the ways in which communities decide their futures at the ballot box.

- not funding the company.

- using the funding for alternative Departmental expenditure.
