1.2 The replacement day service and the associated furniture and equipment provision supports the Corporate Strategy Aim 5 Improving Services, ensuring that our services are inclusive and meet changing needs.

2 Furniture and Equipment requirements

2.2 Wherever possible, existing furniture and equipment from the current Chawton Park Road site will be re-used, but due to its age and condition and changes in the accommodation to be provided, this will be limited and this is reflected in the list of requirements indicated below.

2.4 Race Relations (Amendment) Act - compliance with the Act in terms of carrying out an Impact Assessment is confirmed.

3 Financing

3.1 The estimated cost of the necessary new furniture and equipment is £60,000 and it is proposed that this be funded from the Social Services 2004/2005 Capital Programme block allocation for this purpose. The furniture and equipment will be purchased from County Council approved suppliers or open market competition as appropriate.

RECOMMENDATION

1. That approval be given to the purchase of furniture and equipment for the new Alton Day Service in the sum of £60,000 and that this be funded from the furniture and equipment block allocation in the Social Services 2004/2005 Capital Programme.
