1. Summary

1.1 The following decisions are sought:

(i) That the traffic calming in Elvetham Road, Fleet be removed at a total cost of £30,000.

(ii) That the traffic situation on Elvetham Road be reviewed after completion of the town centre improvements.

2. Reason

2.1 This decision supports Aim 4 (Building Strong and Safe Communities) of the Corporate Strategy by removing conflict at the traffic build-out features in Elvetham Road, Fleet.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected

3.1 Several alternatives have been considered. These consist of vehicle activated signs, no additional measures, rumble strips, speed cameras and speed cushions. The reasons for and against these suggestions are documented in the public leaflet of August 2004 (attached as Appendix 1).
