1 Summary

1.1 The Government has updated the population figures in the 2003/04 grant settlement which results in a small grant loss of £5000, but an underlying reduction in Formula Spending Share of £1.7m.

1.2 The following decisions were taken:

· to deplore the Government's retrospective adjustment of an existing current budget and the impact the application of incorrect census data has in Hampshire and to make appropriate representations to Government and Hampshire MPs

2.1 The Government's response to consultation ignored the Council's representation and will have an impact upon the budget for 2005/06 which encompasses all the aims in the corporate strategy.
