1 Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

    That Cabinet considers and resolves action on school provision in the Pinewood area.

    (Cabinet subsequently resolved that, as a matter of urgency, Pinewood Infant School be rebuilt as a one form entry infant school with speech, language and communication needs provision and that discussions be entered into with Rushmoor Borough Council for the provision of community facilities on the school site.)

2 Reason

    To support Aim 1 of the Corporate Strategy - Maximising life opportunities by the creation of opportunities for the community; Aim 4 - Building strong and safe communities; Aim 5 - Improving services.

6 Reason(s) for the matter being dealt with if urgent:

    To ensure a prompt response to the Schools Adjudicator's decision to reject Hampshire County Council's proposal to close Pinewood Infant School and establish replacement provision for children with SLCN at Southwood Infant School.
